Warsaw Stadium Set for Opening Match

While construction at Warsaw's brand new stadium has been completed for a while now, several set backs have postponed an official opening match from taking place.

Problems with the communications system cancelled a Super Cup match between rival football teams Legia Warsaw and Wisla Krakow earlier this month. An opening musical event took place in the stadium in late January but this match was meant to be the first sports event at the newly built stadium. The last minute cancellation angered fans, and resulted in the resignation of the head of Poland's National Sports Centre.

The approved opening match will take place on February 29, hosting a friendly between Poland and Portugal.
