Warsaw Protests ACTA Agreement

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Warsaw this week, in protest against the international copyright agreement ACTA, already signed by the many countries including the United States. The protesters claim that the government would be limiting freedom on the internet.

The Polish wing of the Anonymous group of online "cyber-warriors" showed their displeasure with the proposed agreement by hacking several government websites including the Prime Minister's Office website, issuing a warning to the Polish government that "we are more powerful than you".

While the Polish ambassador to Japan did eventually sign the agreement in Tokyo along with many EU member states, it remains up to the individual national parliaments to ratify it in the coming months.
