The date to watch is now September 7th, when the Polish Parliament is slated to vote on whether to dissolve itself or not. If the politicians decided that dissolving parliament is the best solution, early elections would be scheduled, two years ahead of time.

The vote is part of an ongoing crisis in the Polish government, following the firings of several cabinet members in the past couple of months by Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski. If parliament does call it quits, the prime minister has suggested that voting could be held on October 21st or in early November. Early polls show that the main opposition party, centre-right and pro-business Civic Platform (PO), has a lead on the PM's own party, Law and Order. However, no one party has a majority lead, and a coalition will likely be formed no matter what - let's hope this one sticks.
