Newsletter: Our Latest Developments!

There was cause for jubilation in Poland earlier this year, when against all the odds Poland and Ukraine's joint bid to host the European 2012 Football Championships was announced successful.

People took to the streets of Warsaw, Cracow, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Poznan in Poland and Kiev and Lviv in Ukraine to celebrate this remarkable victory, partying, singing and waving flags. Flabbergasted and exhilarated, Michal Listkiewicz, the chairman of the Polish Football Association, declared that hosting Euro 2012 would be 'a milestone in the history of the two Slavic countries'.

With preparations in both countries well underway already, we have also started to research and present all the information visitors to Poland and Ukraine will need for this epic event. As a result we are proud to announce the latest of our online travel guides, https://www.local-life.com/kiev!

With its rolling hills, flowering chestnut trees, river beaches, ancient monasteries and cathedrals, and of course Communist megaliths, Kiev is a simply amazing city, which we hope tourists will discover long before the year 2012 comes around. It's certainly an out there destination, but one that is developing fast. The nightlife is not far behind the likes of London, Moscow and Ibiza (indeed Ibiza's legendary Privilege nightclub have just opened their second venue in Kiev!) and the days of empty shelves are over - instead you'll find a range of top malls like Globus and Mandarin selling top Western brands, whilst ramshackle markets offer some crazy and funky bargains. Now that there are no visa requirements for EU and American nationals to enter Ukraine, we predict that Kiev will be one of the hippest tourist destinations in Europe in the next few years!

Aside from preparing for 2012 we've several other fantastic announcements to make. After launching Vienna Life travel guide (https://www.local-life.com/vienna), just a few months ago we've already attracted some media attention. We're going to be teaming up with the people at Easyjet Inflight Magazine to bring you top recommendations every month on the city, to help you make the most of your trip. Maybe you're travelling there for the Euro 2008 Football Championships? Yes, we've got that covered, as well as the finest cafes, restaurants and hotels in the city. Come check out this grand Austrian capital and find out what Midge Ure and Ultravox were raving about all those years ago!

Finally, we've been busy making improvements across all our sites, from Cracow Life to Tallinn Life and beyond, and that's why you can now download your own PDF guides to the city to bring with you on your travels. These guides, with an introduction, travel info and top tips on restaurants, bars and nightclubs and the latest events, are completely free and you can download them from any page on all our sites. So if you're travelling to Prague for example, just head to https://www.local-life.com/prague and press the red download button on the bottom left of the page (the same button that is featured on this newsletter!). It takes about a minute to download, then just press print and hey presto you're good to go. This is a brand new feature of our sites, so as usual just let us know if you have any suggestions, or criticisms - or tell us what else you'd like to see there.

Thanks for taking the time to find out about our latest developments. We hope that you've enjoyed using our travel websites in the past, and that you will always look to us first for information and advice when travelling in East Europe. Feel free to drop us line any time about anything at all, or maybe someone in our forums can help you? Or maybe you can help someone!

We also invite and encourage you to make your opinions known. As such we have made it possible for our readers to comment on all pages, new items and features! And as always you can review all the hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs that we mention - so go ahead, let it all out! For a full list of all our sites, such click here.
