airBaltic Singled Out As Innovator

The Latvian air carrier airBaltic has been highlighted in a list of the top ten innovators in the industry by independent source airlinetrends.com.

The expert travel site noted that in recent years, air Baltic has made a transformation from a point-to-point low-cost carrier to a hybrid network LCC.

The site added that besides rapidly growing its network, energetic airBaltic also established its own taxi company, BalticTAXI, as well as BalticBike, a bike sharing service.

airBaltic was founded in 1995 and now flies to dozens of destinations across the globe, from Armenia to Uzbekistan. The network has been growing at considerable pace, adding 15 new routes in 2008, 11 in 2009 and an impressive 27 in 2010.

In response to complaints that Latvian taxi drivers were taking customers for the proverbial ride, the airline set up its own taxi service offering reasonable rates to all comers.

2011 looks set to be another fruitful year for Latvias leading airline.
