Getting to Lviv from Krakow

I'm trying to get from Krakow to Lviv for a short holiday. What is the best way to do this? The flights are too expensive, so I'd appreciate any help on other options - bus? train? hitch-hiking? Thanks for any help!

The Lviv to Krakow journey is famed for being rather drawn out. And if you're coming by car, or bus, you can get held up for hours at the border. Some prefer to travel to Przemysl, walk over the border and then catch a local bus. HOWEVER, things are set to get a whole lot better in May 2009, when a new, streamlined train service will be launched. This will make the full journey time just 7 hours. And no need to change carriages like before. A new system adapts the carriages to the differing track widths of Ukraine and Poland. All designed to help boost the Euro 2012 tournament!

Yep - and the first overnighter pulls out of Krakow main station tomorrow night - 31 May 09. It's a sleeper only train and is scheduled to take around 7 to 8 hours to Lviv. The times are in the news section.
