Local elections in Eindhoven

As you've probably guessed with all the election posters, media attention and politicians presence in the city, elections are coming up. On Wednesday March 21st 2018 municipal council elections take place in 335 municipalities in the Netherlands, and also in Eindhoven. These take place every four years and at these elections voters choose their preferred candidate for the city council.

Who can vote for these elections?

You can vote if you're registered in Eindhoven and if you're at least 18 years of age, and if you belong to one of these 3 categories:

- You have the Dutch nationality

- You're from an EU-country and are registred in Eindhoven since the 5th of February 2018 or earlier.

- You're from outside the EU and have been living in the Netherlands for more than five years and you are registered in Eindhoven since the 5th of February 2018 or earlier.

Basically, you can vote if you've received a 'stempas' (voting pass).

What do you need to be able to vote?

If you've received a 'stempas', take this and your passport or ID-card to a 'stembureau' (voting location) in Eindhoven. You can vote at all voting places in Eindhoven. The address of the nearest place is mentioned on your 'stempas'. There's an online PDF with all the voting locations in Eindhoven.
