Philips presents unexpectedly good Q1 Results

Electronics concern Philips, founded in Eindhoven in 1891, had a 2010 first quarter revenue of 201 million euro and a 5,7 billion turnover. Those figures result in a 12% increase of turnover in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the first quarter in 2009. The Lighting department mainly contributed to the good results with an almost 20% growth, Medical grew %7%. Regionally the US market decreased 4%, significant growth markets were Far East countries like China and India, and also Japan and South Korea.
