Jolie attends Croatian premiere of war film

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has attended the Croatian premiere of her controversial war film In the Land of Blood and Honey.

The debut director was joined by her partner Brad Pitt, and the couple greeted fans and signed autographs prior to the screening.

In the Land of Blood and Honey is a love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War (1992-1995) a conflict which claimed the lives of about 100,000 citizens of the former state of Yugoslavia, including Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims).

Noted Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija was among those to star in the film.

Jolie's movie has not been without controversy, with Serbs claiming that the film was biased against them.

Indeed, the director told British newspaper The Guardian that she and fellow cast members had received death threats.

It was a scary thought that someone was thinking along those lines, she confided.

However, Jolie claimed that she was more concerned about the film being used as a nationalistic political tool.
