Atletico Madrid Reigns at Europa League in Bucharest

Spanish football team Atletico Madrid have becoming the champions of the 2011-12 UEFA Europa League tournament, the final of which took place in Bucharests Arena Nationala stadium on 9 May.

Atletico Madrid defeated fellow Spaniards Athletic Bilbao by 3-0 in the final. Defending champions Porto were defeated by Manchester City earlier in the tournament.

The UEFA Europa League, previously known as the UEFA Cup, is the second most prestigious club tournament in Europe behind the UEFA Champions League. Teams qualify for the competition based on their performances in their national leagues. The 2011-12 tournament was the third edition of the UEFA Europa League in its current format.
