Bucharest Dress Breaks World Record

A 17-year-old model named Ema Dumitrescu has helped break a Guinness World Record in Bucharest, by wearing a wedding dress with a 1.85-mile-long train. The model floated above the city in a hot air balloon, her train stretching along one of the city's main boulevards.

The record breaking dress was created in 100 days, stitched together by a team of 10 seamstresses. To create the dress, 4700 metres of taffeta imported from Italy, 5.5 metres of Chantilly lace from France, 45 metres of lining, 1857 sewing needles, and 150 spools of thread were used. Material costs were approximately 5000 pounds.

The previous recording for longest bridal train was held by a Dutch designer whose train was 2488 metres long.
