French Fashion, Inspired by Romania

French fashion designer Philippe Guilet has recently shown his latest collection in Bucharest. The collection was inspired by the culture, traditions, and countryside of Romania, in co-operation with the 100%RO project which promotes Romanian heritage.

The designer, who has previously worked with the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld, aimed to showcase the beautiful, artistic side of a country whose true heritage is not well-known abroad. The "Prejudice" collection included such breath-taking pieces as a Greek-style column dress, which was crafted from 198 silk ribbons meant to represent the River Danube. Other pieces drew inspiration from Transylvanian roofs to Romanian Easter Eggs.

The "Prejudice" collection will see an official premiere in Paris in 2012.
