Cutting edge at cut price

It's the only music festival in Poland that focuses entirely on contemporary improvised music and free jazz - and for a limited time, tickets for all the big concerts are available at a discount. The Sixth Krakow Autumn Festival of Jazz will run from September 20 to November 28. Over the five increasingly popular editions that have led to this year's event, the festival has managed to stage more than 150 acts, including top names such as Anthony Braxton, Joe McPhee, Charles Gayle and Peter Brtzmann. Due to be held at Alchemia in Kazimierz and the Manggha museum in the city centre, the acts are bigger than ever before. They will include old favourites such as Brtzmann and Vandermark - as well as Trevor Watts, Edge, Akira Sakata and others. A special block ticket for all nine events is available now at a discount, from the Alchemia website - just follow the link. But be quick... the offer expires on August 28, and tickets are likely to be sold out long before then.
