Billy Wilder retrospective

Billy Wilder was the writer and film director who gave the world the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe in THAT dress but just who gave Billy Wilder to the world is a matter of friendly contention.
The American, Austrian, French and German consulates have teamed up to celebrate the anniversary of Wilders birthday. They have worked closely with film experts at Krakows Jagiellonian university, and the city of Sucha Beskidzka where Wilder was actually born on June 22, 1906. All four nations and indeed Poland have a stake in Wilder because Sucha Beskidzka is no longer in Austro-Hungary, but part of Malopolska. And, he worked in Paris, Berlin and Hollywood.
The Billy Wilder festival will include films at Kino Agrafka, ul. Krowoderska 8 (June 15, 8pm), The Austrian consulate at ul. Napoleona Cybulskiego 9 (June 18, 8pm), the Hotel Royal, ul. Sw. Gertrudy 26 (June 19, 8pm), the Goethe Institute (June 20, 6.30pm and 8pm), and Auditorium Maximum, ul. Krupnicza 33 (June 21, 6.30pm).
