Shipping To the USA

Hey all--anyone know about affordable ways to ship overseas? We have a few large boxes of clothes and books to ship to California and don't want to spend too much. We checked UPS and it looks outrageously expensive. Does anyone recommend using the Polish postal service, and if so, are there any requirements I should know about (size, weight, contents. etc)? Thanks a lot!
