Easter in Cracow

Hi, we are planning a family trip to Poland during Easter. Part of the trip is to go to the village where my grandparents came from (Radziechowy near Zywiec). Any suggestions on getting there i.e. how safe is it to drive, are there buses? Also, will there be anything open in Cracow during easter?

hi Janeck, this is the website of regional bus station in kraków: http://www.rda.krakow.pl/en/ i think there is no bus to radziechowy, so u have to take a bus to ¿ywiec. you can also get to radziechowy by train http://rozklad.pkp.pl/ with at least one change. but i suppose its more expensive option. regards anything open in Easter- except churches, not much :D there will be open little shops and maybe some restaurants. (there will be an Easter market at the main square before and just after Easter)

On Easter Sunday itself most places will be closed, but some restaurants on the main square should be open. Otherwise, on Saturday most shops will close early if they're open at all, and same on Friday. I recommend taking the bus to Zywiec and then taking a local white "busik" to the town itself.
