Concert: Revueltas, Berlioz

Fri 9th
Apr

There are two pieces set to be performed tonight at this special concert under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of Mexico Raphael Steger. First is Mexican composer Silvestre RevueltasÂ’ La Noche de los Mayas, and second is Hector BerliozÂ’s Harold in Italy symphony. The story goes that superstar virtuoso Paganini went to Berlioz in search of a tune fit for his brand new Stradivarius viola. Berlioz composed Harold in Italy with a significant solo viola part which Paganini swiftly rejected - apparently the violia solo had simply too many pauses!
