Wroclaw to Build Metro?

Wroclaw is currently considering plans to build a metro system, alleviating its traffic problems which infamously placed the city in fourth place in a study of most congested cities in Europe.

With a population of 1.5 million and a dense historic city centre, travelling by car, bus, or tram has proven insufficient for Wroclaw's residents.

There are several problems for the city to successfully and cost-effectively build a metro system, including high water level and multitude of waterways, canals, not to mention the Oder River. However, many cities such as Amsterdam, renowned for its historic canals, have overcome this issue. Experts from around the world have been invited to advise the city on how to best proceed with building a metro in Wroclaw.

Warsaw is currently the only city in Poland with a metro system.
