Friendly Robots Being Developed in Wroclaw

The Wroclaw University of Technology is making waves internationally with its latest project, the development of a robot that can display emotion. The robot, named Emys, uses three discs that make up his face, eyes, and a motorized neck, to display a series of emotions including surprise, anger, sadness, disgust, and more.

The Telegraph has reported that the aim of projects like Emys is to help robots become more acceptable in human lives, which is seen as usually quite difficult when they display no emotions like other human companions, such as pets, do. The Telegraph writes that the "prospect of robotic nurses and butlers might be slightly disturbing at first, but projects like Emys are working towards a future when human/robot interaction can be natural and un-self-conscious". We're proud to be home to such innovators here in Wroclaw!
