Ronald Reagan Monument Unveiled

It was the Dalai Lama the other week, and now its Ronald Reagan's turn to be honoured in Wroclaw Poland. The popular former president of the USA was a staunch opponent of the communist regime during his years in power (1981-89) and a supporter of the Polish Solidarity movement which eventually overthrew the regime.

At the end of July a relief of Reagan was unveiled in a passageway under the roundabout which also bears his name. An inscription below the monument reads: "To Ronald Reagan for his fight against totalitarianism - from the citizens of Wroclaw."
