Ben Affleck scouting around Bulgaria

Hollywood actor turned director Ben Affleck was in Sofia this April, as he hopes to film scenes from his upcoming movie Argo in Bulgaria.

According to reports, the star is interested in the Vitosha mountain area for parts of the movie, which is being produced by George Clooney.

Affleck set up shop at the Sofia Grand Hotel, where he had a series of meetings before heading over to the NU Boyana Studios for more talks.

Argo, Affleck's third crack of the whip as director, turns the clock back to the infamous Iran hostage crisis of 1979, and a peculiar ruse that was invented in an attempt to free six captive ambassadors.

Bizarrely enough, the CIA came up with the plan to fake the production of a big budget science fiction film in a bid to rescue the dignitaries. And it's precisely this story that has hooked Affleck.

Sofia Life will be keeping its eyes peeled for more info on what's happening with the location shoots, with updates forthcoming.
