Volleyball’s Victory Unveiled

Bulgarias volleyball victory in the 1957 games tournament was recognised last week after a plaque was unveiled in Sofia marking the countrys win in that historic tournament.

The ceremony was attended by Bulgarias President Georgi Parvanov and the head of the International Volleyball Federation Jizhong Wei at the citys Vasil Levski stadium. The plaque unveiling also marked the 45th anniversary of volleyball becoming one of the Olympic sports when it made its debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Volleyballs chief will be touring the country as part of his visit to watch the World League Volleyball game between Bulgaria and Cuba.

Later in the month Vasil Levski Stadium will be rocking to another altogether different sport, as Madonna comes to town still as flexible, muscular and dynamic and, at 50, probably able to give any 6ft Bulgarian volleyball player a run for his money.
