Moscow Bids Farewell to Soviet Era Star

Russia has lost one of its brightest film stars from the Soviet era - Lyudmila Gurchenko, who died on 30 April of a heart attack at the age of 75.

Gurchenko first rose to fame in the 1950s with such films as Carnival Nights, a movie which is still screened every New Years Eve on Russian television.

The much-loved actress will in state at the House of Cinema in central Moscow and can be visited by members of the public (though queues are incredibly long). Gurchenko will be buried in Moscow's famous Novodevichy cemetary.
