Editor's review

When Krakow's Podgorze district became the site of the Jewish Ghetto for Krakow's huge Jewish population, many Germans set up businesses in the area in an attempt to profit from the Nazi invasion of Poland. Oskar Schindler was such a man, but in the end he came to save the lives of over 1,100 Jews that worked in his factory, often at great risk to his own life and at personal expense. A state of the art permanent exhibition chronicling the Nazi Occupation opened in June 2010, and has since become one of Krakow's real gem sites. So much indeed, that it has been nominated in National Geographic's contest for the "7 New Wonders of Poland". See details here

Also, the exhibition has been adapted to the needs of the blind and the deaf, with verbal and sign-language recordings of the exhibits' descriptions, protruded models of particular items, and the description of sounds that are an integral part of the exhibition.

Disappointing ....we came to Kraków to see the factory of Oskar Shindlers but instead it was all about the Jews in Poland .it is a bit false advertising...I'd already done the ghetto tour

for what it is the exhibition is quite good but I already new about the German invasion, the illtreatment of the polish people and the same to the Jewish community what I would liked to have learned was more of schindler himself and also what was most disappointing was I was shown around his office block but what I wanted to see was his factories if not in a working capacity then at least some if not all of his machinery. Disappointed but still glad I visited.

The most interesting museum in Krakow. You will need to give yourself plenty of time to absorb it all.

An excellent exhibition & well worth visiting. Leave plenty of time to see it. Quite warm inside but there is a secure cloakroom to leave coats, but that does get full.

The best museum in Krakow - leave plenty of time as it is quite a big exhibition.

Overall - Very good. Be prepared to spend a lot of time there so you can read everything and take it all in! I didn't plan enough time to be there so I will return to cover the rest. It's helpful to go with someone Polish to translate some of the posters that are in either German or Polish..

I agree with Sue Heath's review. This museum is a must see and isn't just about Oskar Schindler. She's fortunate to have been able to visit twice. We had one and a half hours here but I could have easily spent many more hours here. I especially appreciated the video displays recording the experiences of the people who actually lived through the German occupation. I highly recommend that every visitor to Krakow visit the exhibits.

Been here twice and was absolutely fantastic. It's taken a huge amount of time to renovate but well worth it. Interactive displays document what it was like during the German occupation of Krakow - the museum isn't just about Oskar Schindler. Although there is a room dedicated to him with his original desk etc, the museum concentrates on the German occupation. There's a movie room where ex workers at the factor talk about their experiences there, there's comments all round the museum from people who experienced life in the ghetto's (including Roman Polanski). You can easily spend 3-4 hours in there if you read all the displays etc. There's also a lovely cafe at the entrance where you can get a drink or a snack - it's done out in deference to Schindlers List the movie - complete with 'movie chairs' and the tables adorned with stills from the making of the film. Well within walking distance from the river on a nice day, or you can get one of the tourist buggies from the square that can also drop you off there. Well worth a visit.

I honestly dont know what there is to complain about. The tickets come at a pretty reasonable price at the amount of information you get. We didnt get the tour guide so i can't reveiw that but we went round by ourselves and there is so much information and it's very intresting! You go through the museum and the further you get through, the date goes on so it explains the war and Schindler himself. There is a lot to take in so might be a bit much for some but is very informative. They set the museum up in such a way that it feels like your in (eg) a train station, a barbers, a street, in a university etc. I dont know how anybody could complain as it is so worth your money and you learn so much, the only thing i would complain about is when there is a group behind you who are getting a tour with a tour guide, its quite distracting but apart from that its great. You can spend as long or as little time as you want in there, we stayed for just over 2 hours but i wished we could have stayed for longer if my eyes weren't as sore from all the reading. Thats the only other problem, lots of reading with small font.

A regular ticket is 17pln the website is here for hours http://mhk.pl/oddzialy/fabryka_schindlera I suggest going to the MHK office in the Cloth Hall of the main market square to make reservations. there are a limited number of people that they will allow each day. This is one of the newest museums in Krakow and it is very well done. I highly recommend going.

Visited this factory on 05 Nov 2011, it was outstanding. however getting there looks dodgy going via the underpass at the railway, seems a hang out for gangs. When we came out it was dark not a nice area to be in... plan ahead

Went to see this on the Saturday 5th October, it was a

pity that the film never told you the amount of Jews that Oskar Schindler saved, and he died with not a penny to his name

Informative, but only on the side of Polish anti-Jew propaganda. The tour guide spoke of how Schindler's story was completely exaggerated and that he in fact wasn't that great of a man. The tour guide was nasty, yelled at us constantly, and tried to get into arguments with everyone in our group. The tour ended with a white book listing heroes of the holocaust and a black book listing informers. The first person in the black book was a Jew.

Visited the factory turned museum today in Krakow. Amazing experience, definitely make a visit if you're in the area. Oskar Schindler - what can i say? What an inspiration for all of us, the work of this amazing man is documented in a visual, interactive way that makes it interesting for any one of any age (even my 80 year old grandmother!) to enjoy themselves and take in the information all around you. Great stuff!

The Nazi-occupation was almost a total conrol over the Pollacks, even though not as perfect control as it was after the Soviets' invasion. It was amazing to see the movies of the last peaceful days of Cracow as well as the idyllic life of Kazimierz Jews in the Christians' town during the 1930s up to 1. Sep. 1939. We liked the museum and felt sympathy over both the victims of the Christians and Jews.

After visiting many city's over the years, Krakow has turned out the BEST,why because of Oscar Schindler, his factory and museum which is unmissable. After viiting the Jewish Ghetto area we saw signs for Schindlers factory and decided to viit,we could not believe how fantastic it was which made us book extra trips to Auschwitz and Bickenou which was very sad and gave us a very different view on life.

Oskar Schindler is a wonderful person. I went to Krakow, Poland in 2006. And Bartek Nowak gave me a tour of the factory. I told him his idea of a novelty shop will earn a modest amount of money. I was moved by oskar schindler enough to change my career from science to manufacture. I was heartbroken by the death of Polands president last year. The schindler jews worked their way out to stay alive. Remember this; never forget the holocaust and never forgive the holocaust.

Well, I'm just another student doing a report but I think Oskar Schindler was one amazing guy. I really wish I knew the reasons for what he did, but I guess we'll never know.

It still doesn't make me any less awed or grateful of and to him.
