Wroclaw’s ZAK Theatre Sweeps Awards at Edinburgh Fringe

Wroclaws acclaimed Teatr Zak theatre group has been awarded two prestigious titles at the Edinburgh Fringe festival - a Total Theatre Award and the Herald Angel award. The Polish group performed the gripping play Caesarean Section. Essays on Suicide, which layers polyphonic Corsican songs with Bulgarian, Romanian, Icelandic, and Chechen Songs.

The Bank of Scotland Herald Angel award was bestowed upon the theatre company based on the positive impressions of the Glasgow Heralds arts critics.

Three other Polish theatre groups (Song of the Goat Theatre, KTO Theatre, and Teatr Biuro Podrozy) were nominated for the Total Theatre Award (Physical/Visual Theatre category). However, ZAK Theatres performance, part of their Gospels of Childhood. Triptych series, was awarded as the most innovative production of the festival.
