Iconic Centennial Hall Under Renovation

One of Wroclaw's most recognizable structures, the Centennial Hall, known in Polish as Hala Stulecia or Hala Ludowa, is currently under extensive renovation.

The Centennial Hall was designed by architect Max Berg and was built in 1911-1913. In 2006, the circular building was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its main, dome-capped hall hosts cultural and sports events throughout the year.

However, on 16 January 2011 the Centennial Hall's doors were closed for half a year as renovations take place revamping its interior and expanding its capacity allow for audiences of up to ten thousand (previously six).

The Hall is expected to reopen by August 2010, though its many neighbouring attractions including the zoo, Japanese garden, Pergola, and multimedia fountain of course remain open.
