NAKAMA

NAKAMA, in Japanese means so much as a companion, or a community of equal people. The band NAKAMA was formed as a quartet in 2015 on the initiative of bassist Christian Meaas Svendsen. A year later the formation grew into a quintet. NAKAMA's music is a result of different musical styles: from European jazz, through the early wave of American contemporary music to traditional Japanese music. The team in their work explores the relationship between content and structure and the ability to work with complex forms on already established musical schemes.
