If you're arriving in Riga by air, you can jump in an Avis car right from the city airport. They're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you're already in town, no problem, you can drop by their office at Lacplesa Str 92, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm to sort yourself out some wheels (give the code "o788355" to get started). Avis have got a great fleet of cars ready to drive away including, Audis, Opels and Golfs. Go online toreserve your car, or to find out more just go to the site, click 'Display Rental Agreement' and hit 'Ask Avis'. Avis' English language website should be able to answer all your queries and if it can't, you can contact them directly.
And once you're all buckled up and raring to go, Riga and its surroundings are yours to discover. Why not hit the road and head down to beach resort that was once the fave hot spot of Commie presidents including Brezhnev and Khrushchev, Jurmala. If the sun's out you and your comrades are guaranteed to turn red under the Latvian rays.

Very slow service. The staff was not very helpful when I wanted to add extra days to my rental. Watch out for for hidden costs. I will never rent from them agin in Latvia airport.

Be aware of extra hidden cost by Avis Latvia when you rent a car. They do not care what is confirmed and specified on the confirmation email when you book online and charge you extra as e.g late arrival!!! This happens when everything is done and you have to sign the extra paper. If you see that they convince you that it is not applicable to you but the they charge you later with hope that no one will see that within the credit card bill. Have opened a complaint at Avis head quarter to follow my case.

they tried to charge $370 for the damage that was never done + $30 for "misparked car" ????? Shame on you AVIS!!!

people - be careful. take pictures of the car before you pick it up and after return like I did
