Editor's review

Portofino is located on a typically sleepy little corner of Kazimierz. It's a cosy, cavernous place, with deep green walls and comfy booths to settle down in. It's less bonkers than your average Kazimierz hangout, and more a place to enjoy a light dinner or a quiet drink than a hell-raising night out on the tiles. Portofino does a tasty range of soups and pastas - ideal to warm the cockles on a winters day, whilst their salads are sure to go down well during the hotter months, when there is a summer garden. There are also some Polish dishes to choose from too, and the restaurant is happy to organize parties. It's also possible to rent out the whole venue for a closed party.

After living here for 3 years, I only will give a couple restaurants in Krakow a rating of 10. This is one of them.

I recommend the pastas. I have never had a bad meal in this restaurant. I've eaten here probably ten times and each time I feel very satisfied and I tell myself I will be coming back again.

"this restaurant was recommended by friends who had visited poland a week before we went.We came on a monday evening, there were a couple tables with people inside but not many, but outside it seemed pretty full. the service inside was quite good, we did wait a good 20 minutes for the food but the drinks were so good we didn't even really notice. huge portions that are very well prepared with a good selection of sides. if you can manage it, try the English warm chocolate cake for dessert - yum!"

We went here twice, once for Dinner (marvellous tagliatelle), once for Lunch (mushroom rissotto and bruschetta), and for good reason! Beautiful, peaceful location. Lovely to sit outside. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.

The Portofino Retsaurant in Krakow is one of the best I have been to. The food was served piping hot and we did not have to wait long. The beer was good, the service was second to none. Our waitress was very efficient and friendly and spoke English. One must have the Brushetta - superb!!

I don't recommend Portofino.

Me and my boyfriend had our new years dinner at this restaurant. First of all the dining staff were not very serviceminded..the food was below average, the worst tigershrimps i've ever had. when we had our maincourse, they asked us to move tables...so we had to take everything and sit somewhere else...well i could go on and on...No didn't like it!!

What a disappointment. My friends and I didn't book and it was a Saturday night so no surprises that we had to wait, however the waitress behind the bar was so intent on ignoring us that even after we had been stood in the restaurant like lemons for approx 5mins waiting to be seated a Polish couple who had walked in after us were seated before us by another (just present) member of staff. Then to top it all off, they got my order wrong. Won't be eating here again.

We ate at the restaurant in March 2007 and found it to be one of the best we tried in Krakow.

The restaurant is a small cozy place and we were dealt with by the waitress straight away.

I had the pork fillet in mushroom sauce and my boyfiend had the pork in plum and berry sauce.

Both meals were really well presented and very tasty indeed. They were also set out on the plate well and piping hot.

With a drink each, our bill came to about 87 PLN which we thought was a bargain.

Highly recommended
