Editor's review

Milano is the place for culinary power, a lively Italian restaurant, where chef Grzegorz Fic prepares delicious ossobucco Milano with grilled gnocchi, papardelle with porcino and parsley, or traditionally Polish dish, veal cheeks with carrot puree and baked potatoes.

The restaurant also tempts with lip-smacking creme brulée with crunchy caramel.

Milano's wine list, abundant with French and Italian spirits will satisfy even the most picky.

I don't as a habit review restaurants but felt compelled to write something about Milano after our experience on Saturday 22nd March. It was a beautiful Spring day and Main Square was busy. I had wanted to try Milano for some time having been to a concert in the Bonerowski Palace where the restaurant is housed and because I had read a review in Top Kraków. Unfortunately the experience wasn't great. We waited almost 40 minutes for our starter and then the mains came and it wasn't what my husband had ordered. As we had to make tracks to the airport we said nothing until the waitress came to collect our plates. When she enquires why his food was untouched I explained that it wasn't what he had ordered and he didn't in fact like the dish. She did offer to get him a replacement but I explained with the very long delay we didn't have time. On presentation of the bill we wee charged full price for everything, no discount for the extraordinary delay and none either for serving the wrong meal. We paid the bill over €50 for two soup, pizza and a fish dish with two drinks. A tad pricy and in all my visits to Kraków only the second ever poor dining experience we have had. Milano won't be getting our repeat business. My only other observation was that it seemed all about churning out the food at the expense of courtesy from the staff. Perhaps with a flagship location on the Main Square they don't feel the need to try ! I have rated the experience a passable 3 stars, the soul was good and the my fish well cooked.
