Situated at the heart of the Market Square, Staropolska is a nod to highlander's culinary tradition. With its traditional black pudding, kielbasa sausage and other meats grilled in a wood-fired oven, it takes you outside Krakow burghers' realm for a folk adventure.
As a proper highlanders' inn, Staropolska offers cosy, folk decorated interior, where groups are welcome for a traditional eat-out of home made pierogis and dumplings, pork knuckles and potato pancakes, accompanied by a traditional folk band.

It was the worst restaurant I visited in Cracow so far, the service was impolite and the food can not be compared to the other restaurants nearby.
At fist i was stunned by the nice interior and was ready to have a good meal before getting to the airport.
Me and my boyfriend ordert a salat as a starter and I had polish dumplings ( pierogi) and my boyfriend was supposed to have some kind of a traditional pizza.
We had been waiting for our starter for 40 minutes already, which was alright in the first place and the water was also served after 45 minutes. But the main dishes came one hour later and not in the same time.
The waiter brought my dumplings first and told us the main dish that my boyfriend has orderd would he there in a minute. ( there was surely no misunderstanding because I am fluent in german, englisch and polish). But after 15 minutes there was still no second main dish and my dumplings got cold.
There was also no excuse and as I could see the waiters were having some private conversations and the cook ( they have an open grill/kitchen) was busy with his phone.
So my boyfriend went to the waiter, ordered the bill and told him that we have to leave and are not willing to wait any longer.
The waiter came to our table and brought the pizza instead of the bill, there was neither an excuse nor any shame. We asked him to please bring us the bill and give us the pizza for takeaway. He just brought a pizza cartoon, did not even put the pizza in it himself and asked if we wanted to "change money", which was clearly a way of asking if he gets a tip. I found that very rude and unprofessional and will not come back to this restaurant on my next trip to cracow.
Good price, good food , nice restaurant and friendly staff.
We liked the food here a lot - filling, big portions that keep you well-fed all day! Loving Polish food, generally.
