Editor's review

This new addition to Krakow's hotel scene aims to fill a gap in the market - for comfortable accommodation at great value right in the heart of the historic Old Town. Globtroter is a high-standard conversion of a traditional courtyard annexe which offers 9 rooms and 3 apartments each with private bathroom, television and telephone, at exceptionally favourable prices. It is a combination sure to make this a popular place to stay. Friendly staff, fluent in English, are genuinely eager to make visitors really welcome.

The Globtroter hotel Krakow is centrally located in a very pleasant old world square, with restaurants, bars and cafés very close at hand, however, the rooms were very quiet at night. There are security locks on doors leading to the hotel, Prices are extremely reasonable. The twin room was smart, clean and well kept. it had en-suite toilet, shower and wash basin. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, always willing to help. They organised all our trips and transfers to and from the airport with the mini bus picking us up at the door. They gave us help whenever we wanted it, and even obtained the cricket score for me when I was unable to find it. Any faults, e.g. light switches were quickly and efficiently dealt with. I would highly recommend the Globtroter hotel to anybody. FULL MARKS GLOBTROTER>

I stayed in Globtroter from May 1st to May 3rd in 2018. During my stay, I forgot my phone in a minivan from a day trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. Globtroter staff were extremely helpful. They contacted the tour company and I got my phone back the next day. They also gave me detailed direction on how to take a bus to Tyniec Benedictine Abbey. I was able to get there without my phone’s GPS map. Anyway, my experience with Globtroter was very pleasant, and the friendly staff there were fabulous!

Fantastic accommodation. So close to everything. Warm when the temperatures out are minus 4. Staff very helpful and obliging. Organised our train transfer to hotel. Organised a couple of day trips. Thanks heaps Globtrotter we will certainly recommend you to anyone coming to Krakow. Hotel was about a 4 min walk to main square and had a shop just a few metres from the front door.

We are glad we found the Globtroter Guest House in Krakow. It was centrally located, charming, clean, quiet, affordable, and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. At first it was a little hard to find, but we got some good directions from the staff. We also enjoyed the plants in the garden below our unit and on our balcony – a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine after a busy day of sightseeing. There was also a refrigerator available in the hallway, and a community room with a computer available for our use. The management was very accommodating. We would certainly stay here again if ever we were in Krakow, and would certainly recommend this guest house to our friends.

I stayed at Globtroter Guesthouse for 6 nights in May - and I've booked a second stay for 7 nights in June as well. I like this guesthouse :) ! I've been to Krakow on 10 vacations so far (just love this city !) and I've stayed in different accommodations. I like the Globetroter for several reasons. It is central, close to the Planty and close the Market Place (Rynek Glowny). It is a bit withdrawn from streets/noise - so peace and tranquillity can be found after a busy day out in the beautiful city. There is a garden - and I love flowers ! It is hard to get a room with a balcony in Krakow, but Globetroter has got that as well. This is an old building but it has got charm. The restaurant on the square close by is very pleasant. Prices for stay at the Globtroter are resonable.

I've stayed in this place 4 times, each time with a different group of friends / partner and I've never been disappointed. Love love love it! The staff are soooo friendly and speak impeccable English. They will organise trips, transfers and recommend places to eat/drink. The guesthouse itself is very central, literally a minute from the main square and I can't believe it is so cheap. The rooms are warm in the winter and cool in the summer (I've stayed in February, April, July and December) and they're cosy and clean with everything you need. If you are looking for 5 star luxury with a gym and sauna and swimming pool then this isn't right for you, but if you're looking for somewhere central with great staff and cheap as chips go for it, you can't be disappointed! P.s. Directly over the road on your left next to the Alkohole shop is a great restaurant that serves amazing dumpling!

This is an ideal, low cost, but comfortable place to stay right in the heart of Krakow. Ideally situated and within walking distance of most of the major sightseeing destinations in the city. In the centre of everything and yet remarkably peaceful, with a lovely little garden and balconies to sit out on. Good free WiFi too. The staff are always friendly and helpful and can give plenty of local information. I have returned several times and will continue to do so.

I was very happy indeed to stay at Globtroter Guest House in late September after 7 years! Same accommodation: 2 very big rooms, same great staff. When you arrive, press the relevant button on the wall (reception is available 24 hrs), and gain entry through a heavy door from the street. Beyond the door and up a passage is a lovely garden. There is also a lovely small square with fountains surrounded by bars and restaurants outside the front door. The situation could not be better - a 2 minute walk to the world-famous Market Square and Cloth Hall. Great restaurants everywhere. We ate great food at the markets in the Market Square. Be sure to visit the very well displayed excavations (Rynek Underground) under the Cloth Hall. The tea and coffee facilities were very welcome too. Great value, and even better, I received a discount for return business.

We found the Globtroter to be the perfect place for our three nights in Krakow. It is located within minutes of the main old town square yet quiet and peaceful for a good nights sleep. We found the staff to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions, referred us to the best restaurants, helped us navigate the city, booked our tours, and sent us to the best Polish pottery stores! Our room was clean and comfortable, opening up to the green courtyard which is also the entry way to the guesthouse. We couldn't have asked for anything more, all within a very reasonable rate.

My room was quite spacious with lots of shelving and space to unpack your suitcase, The hot pot in the room and the community fridge made it easy to have breakfast in the room. There are certainly plenty of breakfast options nearby but I enjoyed the convenience of having a quiet breakfast in the room.

To echo other reviews, the location is wonderfully convenient and the staff was fantastic. The front desk staff was so kind and helpful with questions and made tour and airport transportation arrangements very easy. I never expect anyone to carry my suitcase but I certainly appreciated the young man at the desk grabbing my suitcase and carrying it upstairs. He even met me on the stairs when I was coming down to check out and took my suitcase! So kind and thoughtful!

I had a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again. My only advice is to make sure you get specific directions from the guest house on how to find them since they are a bit hidden and several local businesses on the same square were not aware of their location.

We loved our stay at the Globtroter. It was on a little square just off the main Old Town Square. There was a grocery store across the street, and we had access to a refrigerator. Just on the other side of the square was the park that rings the city and access to tram and bus lines. It was very quiet as well. The room felt spacious because of its high ceilings. A heated rack in the bathroom meant we could wash our clothes and dry them overnight. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The best place to stay in Krakow!!! Our group of seventeen has just returned to the UK having had an amazing few days in Krakow - much enhanced by The Globtroter Hotel and all their staff, who made various arrangements for us for our trips and activities. - booking concert and museum tour tickets and transport to Auschwitz, The Salt Mine etc. The hotel is very clean, central and quiet and the beds are very comfortable indeed. Over the years I have brought many friends to Krakow and having tried lots of other hotels and apartments ( which have all been good) I would always book The Globtroter as my first choice.

Right in the centre of the old town with the cental square being 2 minutes walk away. Right outside the front door you have a choice of severaL good bars and restaurants within yards yet the hotel is beautifully quiet and peaceful.

Staff in the hotel were ever so helpful and organised trips and taxis at good rates. Also lots of good local advice.

Globetroter’s location is ideal if you are looking for something near Krakow’s central square. It has simple but pleasant accommodations, and an abundance of nearby bakeries and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful. From the street side, you would assume that this might be noisy or cramped - it does share an entrance with a nightclub and isn't easy to identify as a hotel from the outside - but once you enter the hotel through the courtyard, you are in a very pleasant, secluded spot, yet within a few minutes of all of Krakow’s major sites. Rooms are simple but pleasant and clean. It is not readily accessible for individuals with handicaps, but if you don't mind carrying your luggage up the stairs, it is a wonderful place.

In the lobby you can ask for iron, hair dryer and they have the clothe washing service.

The staff recommended a restaurant to us to have dinner and it was great, it is called "Starej Kuchni", it is just a few doors from the hotel. and almost in front of that restaurant is another one which is very cheap, beautiful and had great polish food "Polskie Smaki".

I would definitively stay there again.

After three weeks traveling around Central Europe, Krakow was my favorite destination & the Globtroter was definitely a factor. Aneta enthusiastically welcomed me upon check-in & provided so much information on affordable restaurants & activities that I thought my head would burst. She even hauled my 22 kg bag up 2 flights of stairs to my room! The next morning, Piotr offered yet more valuable info & made my reservation for Auschwitz for the following morning. On my 3rd day, with their patient assistance, I even took the city bus to the Wieliczka Salt Mine where I enjoyed mixing it up with the locals. The only downside of the room is that the bed was fairly uncomfortable.

We stayed 3 nights at Globtroter in mid June and couldn't have been happier. Quiet comfortable room, great value, excellent location on a little square lined with restaurants and cafes, and staff that was not only professional and efficient, but more hospitable than imaginable. Impeccable English also should you have skipped your Polish classes. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the main square in Krakow and from there the city is yours to explore. We visited Munich, Prague, Budapest and Vienna as well, and Krakow is on the must-do-again list. The Globtroter is where we'll stay again.

This place was hands down the friendliest most accommodating hotel my wife and have ever stayed in and we've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world. It's right in a nice little square that contains a couple of very good very affordable restaurants. It's clean, quiet, and cozy with large cute rooms.

We arrived at around 0630 on the night train from Budapest and since our room was empty they let us check in right away which is unheard of in hotels. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. If your in Krakow give the Globetrotter a try.

The room was very clean and comfortable, and the lovely cleaning fairy came each day and smartened things up for us. The communication prior to our visit was fantastic, with great instructions on how to find the Hotel - great for weary travellers new on the ground and a bit unsure about our bearings. The gardens were beautiful, and the location was fab - just around the corner from Main Square, and lots of restaurants and drinking spots right outside the door.

We loved our stay in Krakow and the Globetroter was an excellent choice of hotel! It is great value for money with large, comfortable and clean rooms in a great location in the Old Town. The staff were fantastic - very responsive and helpful from the time we booked until our departure! They also spoke good English so we did not have any problems communicating. It is not a luxury place but I would definitely recommend it to others!

Excellent customer care...Superb location...friendly and safe atmosphere...Homely, comfortable and located within a few minutes of superb places to eat - suiting all budgets - Personally I would be happy to 'return' to this hotel and so would my fiance because she accepted my proposal to be married there...amid red roses and a fine wine...

Lovely guesthouse, in a quiet courtyard with wooden balcony and garden. 2 minutes walking from the main square, and 15 from the train station. Rooms are big and clean, staff is nice and prices are really affordable. No breakfast, but a kettle in every room. Really highly recommended (just look out for the very small sign in the street to find it).

Globtroter!

P.S. We hope to see you soon, Globtroter :-)

Wonderful place. I stayed in a 1Bed room. Comfortable beds, no bugs, room service was a very polite lady. reception was friendly and helpful with suggestions and booking tours.

Dont take any tours without asking their suggestions. I was helped by Rafael and another lady(forgot her name, sorry :\ ) several times. They have tie-ups with excellent companies. and Also will give you honest suggestion on prices.

Bathrooms are very clean. Which is very important. They have a resourceful library with maps and a computer. They have ubuntu on the machine, I was surprised and impressed!!

Location is amazing. Right in the center of activity. Rynek is within 100 meters of walking. Jazz clubs, bars, and easy food access.

I saw the view of the front door on google maps - street view (very old image, the construction in front is already finished). It has changed now. They have a small board outside, which is not as obvious to spot. A bigger banner will definitely help but Google maps better update the view as well.

The charge on your credit card is done at the end of your stay. Not like American hotels where you pay upfront. Just FYI, so you don't get surprised like me.

I had no discomforts and was beyond content with the stay. :) Will definitely recommend this place.

I have traveled to Krakow on business many times and stayed in most of the hotels in the city. Frankly, none compare for quality of friendly service and price to Globetrotter. This was my first stay, having been recommended by a friend who lives in Krakow, it most certainly won't be my last. A fantastic location 2 mins from main square surrounded by lots of eating places.

Dear Globtroter,

My 21 year old daughter and I had an absolutely delightful stay with you this summer. The room was very comfortable, quiet, spacious and clean. The location was great being right off a city square, and only a few blocks to the center of the city. All the beautiful sites of Krakow and all of its many great restaurants were within easy walking distance.

Every member of the hotel staff was very gracious and helpful. They all spoke excellent English, and were not put off by the fact that I knew only a few words in Polish. They were very helpful in recommending restaurants and booking great tours for us to take during our stay.

I know that some readers of reviews tend to be suspect of reviews which contain nothing but compliments. Therefore, I’ve thought hard about what could have been done to possibly make our stay with you even more enjoyable. The only thing I could come up with is that it would have been nice if we had the option of having a portable fan in our room. It was quite warm in Krakow during our stay, and a fan would have helped to cool the room down at night.

Thank you again! We will recommend you to anyone we learn is contemplating a trip to Krakow.

Took the free shuttle bus from the airport to the train station where the train waits for the bus. Pay for train ticket via machine on board. Walked from the station to the hotel with my wheeled case at night comfortably in 10 minutes. A previous review gave a good hint about the entrance being up a corridor rather than fronting directly onto the street, but other than that the hotel’s directions were spot on and I found it easily. Good, clean pension type hotel set in an excellent location 2 mins from the magnificent square yet still peaceful. Set in its own courtyard/garden with balconies accessible to all floors, the hotel has a pleasant and pretty aspect. Loads of bars and eateries nearby – take your choice, all good. Staff extremely helpful and speak good english. Booked trip to auschwitz with them - one of their guys drove us there (me and 4 American guests) bought the tickets for us and brought us back to the hotel – all at a cheaper price than other tours - and you knew he was going to turn up. Would stay again and recommend this hotel to a friend.

Our family (two adults and two children aged 14 and 16)stayed four nights at Globtroter. Highly recommendable. Quiet, a nice, clean and spacy room, a friendly and service-minded staff (providing adequate information on attractions etc.) and superb location (only one minute walk to the main market place and the heart of Krakow old town). We also found the room rate to be cheap. Also plenty of good restaurants and cafees nearby(serving e.g. breakfast which Globtroter does not serve). My only negative comment is that Globtroter was quite hard to find! Only a very small and hidden sign on the outer wall to the street. Standing only 50 m from the front gate we asked a number of taxi drivers and restaurant employees and none of them had heard of or knew where Globtroter was located

My wife and I stayed here six nights last month and had a wonderful experiance. The location couldn't be better, short walk from the train station, main square, many restaurants and bars. It is a pension and not a hotel, so don't expect expensive hotel ammenities. I found it to be a better value than more expensive penions we've used before. The staff bent over backwards to help with all of our needs, arrainged transportaion, dinner reservations, we even hired one of the staff to drive us to the concentration camps. I will absolutely stay here again, and recommend it highly!!!

We had a great experience at Globtroter. It is simply in the middle of the city, yet quite enough area. Right next door, as you walk out to the left, there is a wonderful place to eat, amazing food and prices. While at the Globtroter, the stuff was very friendly, always available and made things simple. After we checked out, we had about 6 hours before our train departs. Globtroter has an extra room any quest can use after checking out. It has a shower, couch, fridge, just about anything you may need while waiting for your departure, at no additional cost. Very simple hotel, yet very comfortable.

My first experience at staying in Europe was at the Globtroter. I would stay there again the next time I am in the area. It was clean, quiet and very comfortable. The person at the front desk was very helpful in all our questions. We overlooked the courtyard and had a great view. This is a definite on our list of places we liked. Stayed at a few others as we traveled around and the Globtroter was our favorite. The only problem we had was it was a little hard for us to find because we were not aware that it was down between the buildings.

The Globtroter is very close to the center of old town, so the location was perfect- a 2 minute walk and quiet as it was not on the main square. This was our first stop in Poland and we were not disappointed. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and full of charm, as is the entire hotel. It adds to the whole experience of the city. Excellent value for its location.

The Globtroter was the ideal hotel for us for this trip to Krakow. Tucked behind a square and therefore quiet and private, it was the perfect spot to be. The Globtroter is located just a minute or so's walk from the main square so it is right in the center of Krakow's bustling center. The staff was more than accommodating to our requests and the decor of the rooms was quaintly old-style European. Since the Globtroter does not serve breakfast, the staff suggested two fine cafes just across their little square only seconds away that were great. All-in-all, I would not consider staying anywhere other than the Globtroter if I am fortunate enough to make it back to Krakow!

we were at globtroter for 3 days and nights. a wonderful place with nice rooms and excellent location close to main square and a small square of its own! the staff were not just there for a job but were, beyond that, most helpful persoanlly. they were all excellent. there is a wonderful bakery across the street where we had wonderful baked goods for breakfast. we will stay there again when we are in krakow. they accomodated my wheelchair very nicely and were most eager to help and give directions and make sure we got a morning wake up when we asked for it. wonderful!

The Globtroter was excellent but a litle bit difficult to find. Glad we took taxi. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were comfy. The location is superb. I is just a 2 minute walk to the main square where all the action is.

The reception staff were very helpful too.
