Bulleitproof – Fanfara Transilvania – Balkan Gypsy Brass Band

The Transilvania fanfare is the most famous Balkan-Gypsy brass band from Transylvania, the historical region of Romania associated with Prince Dracula, and in mass imagination with horror stories about vampires.

Somewhere at the foot of Dealul Cetatia (Fortress Hill), in the Carpathians, is the city of Cugir. Right there, next to the old weapon factory, near the ancient Dac fortress - called Sigidava - Fanfara Transyilvania was born - a traditional Gypsy brass band.

The group consists of 10 musicians, brothers and cousins who cultivate the musical tradition passed down from father to son as well as community values.

Their music draws on the heritage of the centuries-old musical tradition of this old region; combines brass, Gypsy and Balkan music, performed at a breathtaking speed of 200 beats per minute.

All ten musicians of Fanfare Transilvania perfectly move in different musical styles and although they can barely read the notes, each of them is easily able to play any melody just after listening to it once.

Their music perfectly expresses the multifaceted rhythms and harmonies of traditional Romanian dances, and their performance is considered to be perfect.

Transilvania fanfare performs locally at various events, weddings, funerals, parties and festivals, but their popularity has long gone beyond the Balkans.

In the last 5 years they played in over 500 places! In Greece, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, France, Slovakia, Lithuania, Romania and many others.

Transilvania fanfare won the "Oscar Folklore Prize" for the best musical performance at the Festival del Folklore Gorizia (IT).
