Professor Jerzy Zubrzycki (1920-2009) was the most prominent Pole living in Antipodes, the "father" of multiculturalism in Australia, a sociologist and demographer. He was born on January 12, 1920 in Cracow. In this city he graduated from Secondary Jan III Sobieski. During the war he was an AK soldier and a member of the British Special Operations Executive. Disarmament for Warsaw insurgents. In 1956 he came to Australia, where he taught sociology at the National University of Australia. His scientific work connected successfully with public activities. In the years 1970-86 he headed the Faculty of Sociology at the Australian National University. He sat on the Australian Institute of Multicultural Affairs and chaired the Australian Ethnic Affairs Council. Professor Jerzy Zubrzycki has advised the other Australian governments and helped understand politicians how to work out an official policy on caring for immigrants. From his scientific work, Governments of Canada and USA. For his merit he was decorated with the Silver Cross of Merit, the Commander Cross with the Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta Polonia Restituta and the Order of Australia.
