Maria Anna Potocka lays claim to opening the first ever private gallery of Poland's communist era. That was back in 1972, and the venue was her bedroom (all possessions were given the boot save for her bed). This eccentric gallery became a meeting place for young artists and intellectuals, a spirit that has endured in this little gallery on Sikorski square, which remains an uncommercial venture to this day. Potocka, a scion of an illustrious family, is a well-known champion of Polish contemporary art and many of the top names have exhibited at her gallery.

Interesting place - lots of famous Polish artists hung out here, and its tiny! Now it seems only to be open a few hours a week. I think the owner is now running the Bunkier Sztuki. Check the opening times before you go.
