Also going under the pseudonym of 'The Pelican Bar' Alcatraz is one Riga nightspot that you won't be keen to escape from in too much of a hurry.

The staff here are dressed for the role, helping fuel the fantasy that you have in fact stepped into the company of the likes of Al Capone or Robert Stroud (the latter being better known as The Birdman of Alcatraz).

It's a suitably downbeat venue on the surface, with murals on the walls and low lighting, but the music and the bar menu help to maintain a party atmosphere.
