The Controversial China: Maiolica from Nieborow

Maiolicas, tin-glazed pottery items, made in 1880's in Nieborow manufacture are more than just fancy historical knock-knacks. With the controversy stirred in their time, they are somewhat an artistic statement of the time.

The daring style, eclectic form and individual artistic creation, especially of talented, young women is what adds timeless value to these fragile works of art and makes Polish maiolicas one of the most precious, though least known items of European ceramics of 19th c.
