New life for Zakopane train station

After four years of judicial battle Zakopane magistrate will be able to communalize the city's train station and the neighboring grounds, previously belonging to Polish Railways, who would not engage in improving of Zakopane's station for financial reasons.
Mayor of Zakopane, Janusz Majcherek is happy about the decision and says the modernization, refurbishing and cleaning will be started as soon as possible.
As of now, the 113-year old train station presents a most discouraging view for tourists and is a mockery for other landmarks in Poland's winter capital, as last refurbishing works were held there in 1960's.
After the works are completed, Zakopane train station is to become a communication center and public space, with arrival and departure zones, parking, waiting room and a shopping center.
