getting to St. Pete
Are there any cheap flights that fly from Europe straight to St. Petersburg?

At the moment there are no direct budget flights to St.Petersburg or Moscow. However, with a couple more days thrown in you could get an Easyjet flight to Helsinki(Finland). From there you can take a ferry across to St.Petersburg, which has the added bonus of meaning that you may not need a visa if you're staying less than 3 days in Russia. Check the visa requirements first though as you may still need to be part of a tour group to qualify for this.
