I've lived in Poland for 5 years. N0LID, I am in totally agree with you. It's very frustrating to have your ticket in hand, thinking you are at the right track and pick up location, to find out 5 min prior to leaving that where you have been waiting is the wrong location. So you then must go and find the right location and jump on the train within the next 5-10min. It's disorganized, and they really need to change this. Hopefully with the updated, new station, we will see changes, and good ones.
There are two stations next to each other, poorly interconnected. The old station is grubby, squalid and confusing. The new station is pleasant and slightly less confusing. There's nothing but Polish signage, so international travelers be ready for a disorienting experience. The Starbucks in the new station is nice, however, and the English speaking person in the Intercity Train Department was helpful and kind in helping with a very delayed train.
N0LID from United States - You are the one travelling to a foreign country. Why on earth should they bother catering for you? Stay in the USA if you want that.
Worse experience ever. Whoever is running the show should be fired. Trains that are schedule for one track are consistantly reassigned to another 5 minutes before arrival. Announcement of the changes are only made in Polish, all other train stations I have been at included at least German and/or English announcements. People are herding though a narrow construction area to make the train. The information desk was useless, they didn't know what was going on, all they did was tell us to look at the schedule. I can't overemphasis what a CF this station is. Reminds me of what people must have put up with when the USSR ran the show.
Small airport, but not much hassle, which was nice. Cheers, Kasia! We'll be back to Poznan soon!
Unlikely, you can also find delicious veg-sandwich in the station. Opening hours are very convinient. Customer service avail in English also. People will help you if needed. Great experience.
A little scary at first, but it's perfectly safe and fairly easy to buy your train tickets here.
