Historical clock will tick again

Destroyed in a fire in 1945, old tower clock came back to its former place, the tower of St. John's church in Gdansk Old Town. Four 4-meter in diameter faces covered with 24 carat gold were installed during tower's renovation. Its mechanism is controlled via satellite signal from Frankfurt
The faces were reconstructed based on historical photographs and arrangements with the technical inspector of Monument Protection Office in Gdans, said Iwona Berent, in charge of the church's reconstruction works.
St. John's church is one of the city's most valuable historical buildings, however it's fallen victim to many turbulent events in Gdansk history and has been under renovation just since a few years.
