Gdansk Artist Receives Special Mention at Venice Biennale

Gdansk artist Katarzyna Krakowiaks contribution to the 13th International Architecture Exhibition Common Ground as part of the Venice Biennale has been awarded a Special Mention by the festivals international jury.

Entitled Making the walls quake as if they were dilating with the secret knowledge of great powers, Krakowiaks project was displayed at the Polish Pavillion at Giardini, curated by Michal Liebera. The piece transformed its building into a living sound sculpture, manipulating, exaggerating, or simply taking advantage of its already present sonic properties.

The winner of the top prize, the Golden Lion for Best National Participation, was Japan, for a work entitled Architecture possible here? Home-for-All by Naoya Hatakeyama, Kumiko Inui, Sou Fujimoto, and Akihisa Hirata.
