Historic Gdansk Carillon Returns

After six years of repairs, the famous carillon in Gdansks St. Catherines church, have been returned to their former glory. The inaugural concert took place in February, and concerts will continue weekly on Fridays at 2:45PM.

St. Catherines is the citys oldest church, dating back to the 13th century. The building was badly damaged in a fire in 2006, and while the roof collapsed, the interior of the building along with the tower were able to be saved.

The churchs carillon is made up of 49 bells, which are played by striking a keyboard and pedal keyboard inside the church using ones fists and feet.
