Gdynia to Build Solar Boat

The city of Gdynia has designed a tourist solar boat - the first of its kind in Poland and one of the few of its kind the world. The Korab scientific organization first got the citys attention, when its Solar boat recently won a race in Berlin. The boat was designed not only with speed in mind, as equal effort was put into a stable construction and the comfort of passengers.

Replacing the usual heavy, loud, and environmentally unfriendly boat design for the Gdynia tourist edition, the solar is quiet, light, and eco-friendly. The design is overall quite unusual for a boat, as it is covered in a solar paneled roof. This provides the power for the engine, which can reach speeds of up to 14 km/h. The construction of such a boat reach approximately 40 000 PLN.
