Gdansk Honorary Doctorate for Peter Greenaway

British filmmaker and artist Peter Greenaway has received an honorary doctorate from the Gdansk Fine Arts Academy of Gdansk. Greenaway attended a ceremony in his honour, where he spoke of his love of Polish cinema from the 1950s and 1960s in particular. His love of such filmmakers and Wajda and Polanski even prompted him to once apply to the famed Lodz Film School.

Peter Greenaway has enjoyed a great deal of popularity in Poland. His 2007 film "Nightwatching" was a co-production with Poland, and he visits often to perform live audio-visual projects such as his "Big Bang" inauguration of the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw earlier this month.
