Giuseppe Verdis A Masked Ball
The Wroclaw Opera will close its season this year with a spectacular mega-production of famed Italian composer Giuseppe Verdis Un ballo in maschera - A Masked Ball. This three-act opera tells a conspiracy story of the death of Gustav III, the King of Sweden, in 1792. While attending a masked ball, the king was shot and later died of his wounds. In the usual operatic fashion, its the many historically questionable embellishments, and of course the beautiful music of Mr. Verdi, which make A Masked Ball such a pleasure to watch.
