From the massive collection of Andrzej Nowak is Whistles and Ocarinas, an exhibition tracing the international history of the ancient wind instruments through time at the Ethnographic museum. The oldest example on display is over 2000 years old from Peru, and in the shape of a bird. Other highlights include a Japanese porcelain dove, and an ocarina made of German Meissen porcelain. The instruments come in a variety of shapes and qualities from primitive animal shapes to masterful works of art capable of producing a complex variety of pitches and tones.
