Opera: Samson and Delilah

This month's premiere at the Opera is Samson and Delilah, one of the few operas by turn of the century French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Yes, there is more to Saint-Saëns than a difficult-to-pronounce name - among other achievements the man is credited with introducing the symphonic poem to France. Samson and Delilah is based on the biblical tale and is regularly performed around the world. The arias of Delilah are popular in particular, such as the "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix" (My heart opens to your voice) aria. Premieres April 3rd.
