Exhibition: Heavenly Birds

Thu 1st
Jan

On loan from the Weifang museum (the International Kite Capital) in China is a collection of delicate Chinese kites. The kites on display are in the shapes of dragons and other symbols representing heroes from legend and literature. The kite is thought to have been invented over 2000 years ago in China though the reason why is still unclear. Some believe it was created by curious observers of floating leaves in the wind, and others simply believe it was created for practical (military, scientific) purposes. Have a look for yourself at the opening this Friday December 5th at 6pm.
