Festival: Thanks Jimi 2008

"With the power of soul anything is possible," so spoke the late great Jimi Hendrix, and that is the motto of this fun-filled festival which is a tribute to one of the world's most inspiring guitarists. It started six years ago when organiser Leszek Cichonski invited local musicians to join him in playing 'Hey Joe' together, and the festival reached an amazing crescendo in 2007 when 1,881 guitarists gathered on Wroclaw's Market Square and strummed those distinctive chords in unison - thus breaking the Guinness World Record for the number of guitarists playing together at one time. If you own a six string, or even if you don't, this spectacle is a must - even the city major, Rafal Dutkiewicz, regularly gets in on the action! All together now: "Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand... I'm goin' down to shoot my old lady, you know I caught her messin' round with another man. Huh, that ain't too cool." For legal reasons Wroclaw Life, in association with the Thanks Jimi Festival, would like to announce that it doesn't advocate shooting your old lady down, even under strenuous circumstances.
